The United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an injunction against Sea Shepherd. The injunction restricted Sea Shepherd from sailing within 500 yards of the Japanese whaling fleet.
Sea Shepherd replied by stating the U.S. Court has no
jurisdiction in the Southern Ocean. Also
stated three of their vessels, the Bob Barker, Steve Irwin, and Sam Simon are
not registered in the USA, thus they do not fall within the jurisdiction of the
U.S. Court.
If that is so, then how come Sea Shepherd filed with the
United States Supreme Court to reverse the injunction placed by the Ninth Circuit
Court of Appeals?
Valentine Day, February 14, 2013: The United States Supreme Court rejected Sea
Shepherd’s request.
