The flag of these here United States of America

The flag of these here United States of America was formerly adopted by Congress in 1777.  The 13 star version, each star representing the thirteen original states, popularly referred to as “The Betsy Ross Flag.”  The current 50 star version adopted July 4th, 1960. 

Some names for the USA flag:
The Stars and Stripes
The Red, White, and Blue
Old Glory
The Star Spangled Banner.

The thirteen stripes alternating red and white represent the thirteen original states.

The national anthem of the USA “The Star Spangled Banner,” written about the flag. 

Elementary students recite “The Pledge of Allegiance,” which starts with: “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America,……..”
