Nikon D3100 Canon VIXIA Canon SX40 video comparison

This video concerns the video quality on the following cameras:
Nikon D3100 - DSLR
Canon VIXIA HF M31 - video camera
Canon SX40 HS -   point-and-shoot

All cameras take video and photographs.  For the purpose of this video all three were set to “automatic.”  All three mounted on one tripod together, and videoed the same scene at the same time.

The tripod used is a Velbon Stratos 470.  That particular model is no longer available. 

The tripod dual camera mount is a Opteka DCMI, purchase from Amazon., however no longer available:
