Douglas MacArthur on
Takeshima / Dokdo
The islands in the Sea of Japan called Takeshima in Japan
and Dokdo in South Korea are occupied by South Korea and claimed by both
nations.
Below is a telegram from American diplomat Douglas MacArthur
(nephew of General Douglas MacArthur, his namesake) in reference to those islands. On page
three states the islands belong to Japan.
The below telegram was authenticated by the National
Archives in the USA.

That's one document related to US policy regarding Takeshima/Dokdo.
Remember America alone did not have the right to unilaterally make decisions regarding the disposition of former "Japanese" territories.
Only all of the signatory nations of the Japan Peace Treaty could make these decisions.
