Japanese free range children
Japan enjoys the reputation of being one of the safest
nations in the industrialized world.
This safety permits Japanese parents to allow their children the freedom
to roam and commute without a protective adult hovering over.
This freedom contributes to the child’s developing trust,
social skills, and responsibility.
Transpose that to the United States where children are always under the
protective eye of an adult. There is a
growing movement in the USA called “free range children,” or “free range
kids.”
The movement states the safety concerns are over inflated
and permit their children to enjoy the freedoms all children once enjoyed in
the USA as now enjoyed in Japan.
In April of 2015 a 6 and 10 year old siblings were permitted
by their parents to walk to a park, play there, and walk home without any
hovering adults. The children faced no
danger until being kidnapped by the POLICE.
Once kidnapped they were turned over to Child Protective Services. The only danger these children faced were
from menacing adults goose-stepping to the nanny state.
