AKB48 J-Pop popping across the Pacific

Recently in The Wall Street Journal appeared an article “Japan Goes Gaga Over a 92 – Member Girl Group.” This article brought to mind a column I wrote in 2011 for the Japanese website ZakZak.

Here is a link to the column in English:

The article explains the success that is this girl J-pop group and their growing popularity. They perform in the Akihabara area of Tokyo, and there are plans to franchise the group to other nations, possibly the USA. The Akihabara area “Field of Autumn Leaves” or “Akihabara Electric Town” (Akihabara Denki Gai or Akiba).
